Abstract

This study aims to investigate the neurological manifestations associated with COVID-19, focusing on the relationship between the virus and nervous system disorders. A literature review was conducted, analyzing articles published between 2019 and 2023 from the PubMed, Scielo, and LILACS databases. Inclusion and exclusion criteria were applied, selecting studies addressing neurological complications from SARS-CoV-2 infection, including encephalitis, neuropathy, and other dysfunctions. Results indicated that COVID-19 can lead to a wide range of neurological manifestations, varying in severity and frequency depending on individual patient factors. It was concluded that neurological monitoring is essential for patients exhibiting severe COVID-19 symptoms, highlighting the need for further research to understand the exact mechanisms of viral neuroinvasion and to develop appropriate intervention strategies.
